The month of October means plenty of Halloween events will open their doors for spooky fun. Los Angeles always has quite a few because of its temperate weather.
This page will be updated closer to Halloween but the events below are stalwarts that you can go to every year.
The Calabasas Pumpkin Festival
The Pumpkin Festival in Calabasas is an event that takes place annually. It’s fun for the entire family. Enjoy music, dancing, food trucks, arts and crafts vendors, a kiddie section, and tons of pumpkins.
This year’s event takes place at Juan Bautista de Anza Park 3701 Lost Hills Rd, Calabasas, CA.

Nights of the Jack – Calabasas
Nights of the Jack has taken place each year since 2017 and is a premiere immersive event. It is set in the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains where visitors can enjoy thousands of hand-carved pumpkins, immersive scenes, a nearly mile-long walking trail, premium food, beverages, cocktails, and more.
There is something for everyone from spooky to kid-friendly with thousands of amazing lights in colorful displays. You can even pick up Halloween gifts and decor from its souvenir shop.
Enjoy food from L.A.’s best food trucks or get a drink or adult treats from Spookeasy’s full bar. There are also sweet treats, coffee, hot cider, and cocoa nightly for everyone, with special dessert trucks
Walk the mile-long trail at King Gillette Ranch decorated with flaming gourds, pumpkins, and every sort of ghostly vignette. Be dazzled by a spectacular light show under the moon with plenty of photo ops.
Activities include:
- Immersive Walking Trail which is nearly 1 mile of bright Halloween lights and festival jack O’Lanterns.
- Pumpkin Carver where you can watch live pumpkin carvings from experts.
- Souvenir Shop to purchase fun ghostly decor and Halloween gifts.
- The Spookeasy to enjoy craft beer, wine, and cocktails.
- Pumpkin Carver – where you can watch pumpkins be transformed into spooky art.
- L.A.’s Best Food Trucks will keep your tummy happy.
Carved at Descanso Gardens
The gorgeous Descanso Gardens has a new route this year as it becomes a light-filled spectral wonder where hundreds of carved pumpkins will line the Camellia Forest and picturesque Rose Garden. Enjoy the ever-popular pumpkin house, hay maze, and Dia de los Muertos altar. Enjoy holiday-themed food and beverages.
Descanso Gardens is located at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011.

Los Angeles Haunted Hayride – Griffith Park
The Crystal Springs Road section of Griffith Park becomes the scary town of Midnight Falls when the witch of the woods casts her spell on the underworld. This event may be too frightening for kids under 12 but is recommended for those who love a good scare.
The Los Angeles Haunted Hayride is located at 4730 CRYSTAL SPRINGS DR., LOS ANGELES, CA 90027. Parking is available in 3 lots nearby. There is shuttle parking at the L.A. Zoo as well.
Halloween Horror Nights
Universal Studios and Citywalk present Halloween Horror Nights where you can enjoy terrifying mazes, sinister scare zones, live entertainment, and more. It takes place in the upper lot of the studio. Warning: It may be too intense for young children.
