The Fine Arts Theatre Beverly Hills was built in 1937 and is used primarily as a screening venue for independent and classic films. It is a small, but comfortable space on Wilshire Blvd, near the heart of the Beverly Hills shopping district. The theater is celebrating its 85th Anniversary and features deep red chairs and simple art deco and neon décor.
It was originally called The Regina designed in classic zigzag moderne but was remodeled and renamed the Fine Arts Theatre in 1948. Formerly a Laemmle Theatre, it is now owned by Screening Services Group.
The theater underwent a renovation in 1993 which was managed by theater designer Joseph Musil. He also redesigned the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood and the Crest Theatre in Westwood. It no longer operates as a regular theatre but hosts special screenings and events.
Some of its classic films are 70mm prints and the theater is equipped with 4K, Dolby 7.1 & 5.1.
The Saban Theatre, another Art Deco masterpiece, is one block east.
