October means Halloween, harvest festivals, and lots of pumpkins. I list some of my favorite Halloween events that take place during October in another post. The Calabasas Pumpkin Festival is an annual weekend event held in mid-October.
Watch my video visit to the event
The setting was Juan Bautista de Anza Park, which is off Agoura Parkway at Lost Hills Ave in Agoura Hills. Tickets to the event are available online. There is parking available, but you must take a provided shuttle to get to the festival.
The line to get in at the drop-off point was long but moved fast to check in and receive an armband. Craft booths were set up from the entrance to the main part of the festival. where there is a children’s play area, a bandstand, tons of food trucks, food vendors, a beer garden, and more. A group of ghoulish singers sang Halloween tunes, and they were terrific.
Great food and Halloween fun
As you could imagine, there were plenty of kids, families, and even dogs dressed up in costumes. The bands that were playing while I was there were kick ass. Grandmas as well as kids were rocking out to the music.
I ordered a huge chicken Mediterranean plate that was delicious. It was so big I ate the rest for dinner later that night. I washed it down with a pumpkin beer in the beer garden, which I really enjoyed. It was sponsored by the local Rotary Club.
It was a fabulous way to spend a few hours relaxing and people-watching.
