Every Memorial Day Weekend, Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church in Northridge celebrates Greek Culture with its annual North Valley Greek Festival. The festival has been taking place for almost 50 years.
Attendees immerse themselves in the rich traditions, flavors, and rhythms of Greece, and they never have to leave Southern California.

The food is to die for!
Foodies will enjoy the delectable array of authentic Greek dishes like savory gyros, souvlaki, calamari, moussaka, Spanakopita, Dolmades, and Greek pork sausage. Sweets include baklava, loukoumades, pasta flora, and other delights.
There is plenty of outdoor and indoor seating, cocktails, Ouzo, beer, and wine.
Cooking demonstrations teach traditional recipes, allowing guests to learn the secrets of these mouthwatering recipes. One year, I learned how to make a tantalizing roast leg of lamb.
The church publishes a cookbook with recipes from its Greek members. It is available for purchase at the festival.

Dance like Zorba all day and night
Live authentic Greek bands perform throughout the day, playing bouzouki and other traditional instruments while guests form lines enjoying lively Greek dances. Dancers in traditional costumes, including children, take the stage to perform lively dances that woo the crowd.

It’s a wonderful opportunity for exercise and to work off the calories from all the wonderful food.
Tents with tables are set up for relief from the sun, or you can eat inside the dining hall.
Shop the Grecian marketplace
Vendors sell art, clothing, and jewelry. You can also purchase evil eyes and religious décor.
Greek grocery items include olive oil and honey. All purchases support the church and the community at large.
Fun for the entire family
The Valley Greek Festival features a dedicated Kid Zone with rides, activities, and games to entertain kids.
