I attended an Evening at LACMA where locals enjoyed exclusive gallery exhibitions after hours without the daytime crowds. We had a DJ who had several of us on our toes dancing, cocktails, and snacks, and were able to access some of the exhibits.

LACMA is magical at night and one of the perks of attending is seeing the iconic Urban Lights display lit up without hordes of crowds jammed into it. Urban Lights is a collection of 202 cast-iron vintage street lamps by Chris Burdan that has become a popular Instagram photo destination.

The lamps were gathered from various locations in Los Angeles and restored.
There is also a massive boulder installation called Levitated Mass that creates an unforgettable optical illusion.
The event was free and because I was on the LACMA email list, I received an invitation in my inbox.
We visited the Modern Art exhibition on the 3rd floor where we saw works by Picasso, Man Ray, Andy Warhol, David Hockney, Diego Rivera and many other modern artists.

Other exhibits open during the event included Ritual Expressions: African Adornment from the Permanent Collection, Ai Weiwei: Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads, and Digital Witness: Revolutions in Design, Photography, and Film.

Watch my quick video walkthrough of the event.
