We may not have snow in Los Angeles, but the city has an abundance of holiday events that are fun for the entire family. I have listed some of my favorites below.
This page will be updated toward the end of the year with more events. Stay tuned.
Lightscape LA
I have attended Lightscape L.A. several times and am always blown away by it. This premiere holiday event takes place at the Los Angeles Arboretum in Arcadia. Walk around its enchanting and illuminated trail to view spectacular sights and eye-catching and artistic installations. The entire Arboretum comes alive at night with color, imagination, and sound.
Take in the wonder of new installations as well as long-time favorites such as the Winter Cathedral and reimagined Fire Garden.
It’s a popular event so get your tickets as soon as they are available. Reserved timed reservations are a must.
You will also be able to enjoy holiday-themed cocktails, s’mores roasted over the fire, cookies, and snacks.
The L.A. Arboretum is gorgeous any time of year so make sure to plan a visit.
L.A. Zoo Lights Animals Aglow
The Los Angeles Zoo is aglow with lit-up animals and a fabulous light show from mid-November to much of January each year. Walk for miles throughout the zoo, and enjoy refreshments and family fun. Timed tickets are required.
Descanso Gardens Enchanted Forest of Light
Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge hosts its amazing light show from the end of November to the first week in January every year. Timed tickets must be purchased in advance.
You will feel as if you are in a fairyland as you wander through the woods of this extraordinary botanical garden where you will see swirling and sparkling lights in a natural environment.
