I’m Rebecca Forstadt Olkowski and I’m a little old lady from Pasadena. (Actually, Altadena) One of my favorite things to do is find fun and affordable things to do in L.A. that even your Grandma will love. And guess what? You won’t have to look good in a bikini or ride a skateboard to have a great time here.
What’s amazing about Los Angeles is that it is a world in itself and you can find a multitude of things to do no matter what interests you.
Most Los Angeles travel blogs are written by and geared toward young people who want to hang out at the trendiest bars or find places to go to show off their tushies. Hey, we were all young once, right? But just because I’m a Baby Boomer doesn’t mean I’ll be writing about the local senior center or where to go to manage your dementia. This site is for people of all ages who want to make the most of their time in this fabulous city.
I adore visiting botanical gardens, museums, art events, the theatre, sightseeing, mountains, the ocean, walking tours, and eating amazing cuisine. One thing I get a kick out of is learning the history of Los Angeles because it has a colorful and fascinating past.
I also like to feature side trips you can take in California on this site as well.
What you may not know about me
I moved to Los Angeles from Denver in 1958 when I was 4 years old so I’m almost a California native. We moved to San Diego when I was 11 and then a year later to Costa Mesa where I went to high school and college and studied theatre. I returned to L.A. in the mid-70s to pursue a career as an actress and have lived here ever since.
For the past 40 + years, I have worked as a professional voiceover actor for cartoons, films, and TV. I took up blogging in 2008 as a creative outlet and because it’s fun. In addition to this site, I am the founder of BabyBoomster.com, a travel/lifestyle blog for active older women over 50.
